Jean Demannez left us a few months ago. In addition to being a brilliant politician, he was a music lover and an excellent amateur drummer. Thanks to this curious mix (politics and music) and to his energy, he was able to carry out, among other things, two projects that were close to his heart: the Saint Jazz Ten Noode festival and above all the Jazz Station, our old train station transformed into a place dedicated to jazz. It therefore seemed appropriate to pay tribute to him, in the double framework of the Festival and the Jazz Station, with an ambitious concert: the orchestra, formed for the occasion, is made up of musicians who regularly attended the Festival or the Jazz Station and especially that Jean appreciated. These musicians have this common characteristic: they are as comfortable in the jazz of the 20’s and 30’s as in that of the 50’s, two styles that Jean was particularly fond of. The first set will be devoted to ‘old style’ jazz and the second will revisit themes from the 50s.
