Lawrence Fields Trio

An inventive musician with a unique background, Lawrence Fields, gave up a career in computer programming to pursue his musical dreams, and quickly carved out a place for himself among young American pianists and keyboardists, being a key member of some one of the most avant-garde and acclaimed groups, alongside Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas, Christian Scott, Branford and Delfeayo Marsalis, Takuya Kuroda, Terri Lyne Carrinton and Jeff Watts. His approach has been described as "an exquisite balance of tradition and innovation" and, for the past five years, American magazine Downbeat has given him a top spot in its "Rising Stars" poll. With his new trio and a debut album released in January 2024, Lawrence Fields combines musical understanding of the past and present with a fluid and spontaneous approach to interaction.
